About SonicSite

SonicSite was launched in 1998 by Paul Cortese as an "online laboratory" for web audio experimentation. Over the past six years, the site has evolved and grown using technologies such as MIDI, Flash, MP3, Quicktime, and streaming audio - tools that help unlock the mysteries of web audio and break the internet silence.

SonicSite is committed to creating professional music and sound designs for both online and offline applications. SonicSite believes that music and sound can be used to enhance the delivery of information and contribute to the users' understanding and overall experience.

As more and more users adopt broadband technology and DSL connections for their Internet delivery, the demand for high-quality audio will continue to increase. Paul's experience with the creative process and his knowledge of the web's technical requirements and limitations enable him to provide the optimum solution for your project's needs.

About Paul Cortese

Paul Cortese is a musician and technologist who specializes in the creation of audio content for new media projects. His experience combines the roles of project manager, composer, guitarist, teacher, audio engineer, and graphic designer into a diverse and unique skill set that allows him to approach projects from many different points of view.

Paul received his Master of Music degree from New England Conservatory in classical guitar performance. As an active performer and teacher in the Boston area, he became interested in the Internet after setting up a web site for students in his guitar studio. The web site contained MIDI files and allowed his students to practice their lessons and improvise with an online, electronic "band".

This initial experience led to professional training in web design and more advanced experimentation with web audio techniques. Paul has presented several lectures on the subject, including MIDI, Music and the Internet and The Role of Technology in Music Education.

During the exciting dot com era, Paul was a project manager at ScreamDesign where he coordinated the production of web and multimedia projects and directed the development and creative direction of ScreamDesign's Sound Studio - an online audio resource library for new media designers.

Paul then went on to be the Creative Services Project Manager in the Office of Public Relations and Marketing at New England Conservatory in Boston. At NEC, he coordinated a variety of print and multimedia projects and also contributed images for publication and media placement as the unofficial staff photographer.

After NEC, Paul was the production manager in the Office of Communications and Cultural Affairs at Regis College where he oversaw the production of all publication and communication projects.

This past year, Paul relocated from Boston to Fort Worth, Texas where he is the Assistant to the Director in the TCU School of Music. He continues to pursue both musical and multimedia freelance projects through SonicSite.
